Game Review
Having had their finals hopes dashed the previous week by a resurgent Richmond, the Blues were given the coup de grace by Geelong in this one-sided affair at Princes Park.
The top of the table Cats led by more than six goals at three-quarter time, and eased down to run out victors by 22 points. The Blues never threw in the towel, but their wayward shooting for goal (they scored 2.8 to a single point by Geelong in the last quarter) dashed any chance of a resurgence, and the final score flattered the home side.
Carlton dropped to eighth place after this defeat, overtaken by South Melbourne. Now, only Footscray posed a threat to the entrenched top four of Geelong, Collingwood, Fitzroy and Essendon.
