Game Review

If Collingwood won they would be in the four. Carlton had the best of the play for more than two quarters. However, poor passing and shocking inaccuracy in front of goal let them down. Collingwood's half backs were dominate and repelled and started many attacks. Playing at full forward Serge Silvagni kicked poorly and managed just 1.3 from 6 shots at goal. Late in the game he was moved to half forward, switching with Allan White. If this move had been made earlier and with Serge's strong marking ability, perhaps the outcome could have been different. Six minutes into the last quarter Gerald Burke goaled to take the Blues to 8.8 - 6.11. From there, with the aid of the wind, the 'Woods slammed on 3.3 to just one behind. Collingwood big man Murray Weideman scored his clubs 3 last quarter goals. He was flatted immediately after kicking the first and was awarded a free kick in the goal square, a costly error.
