Game Review
Carlton's inaccuracy in front of goal still haunts them as the final margin could have been far greater with a greater conversion rate.
Laurie Kerr and Keith Warburton were away with the State team in Adelaide and Jack Howell was unavailable.
Playing on a wet, muddy ground, even with a white ball did not help raise the standard of the game. The Blues won in the ruck with Caspar, Davies and Hands providing drive, they won across the centre, and controlled the game for most of the match. Rovers Spencer and Mills along with Beasy brought the ball into the forward line on many occasions. However, Carlton's inaccuacy in front of goal let them down, with Spencer scoring 1.6 after half time. Players had trouble judging the white ball's erratic flight through the air, some said it was like playing with a pudding.
Two North players (E. Jarrard & L. Icke) were reported for the attempted striking of J. Spencer and R. Green.
