Game Review

Bruce Doull was reported for the 2nd and final time in his 356 game career and was suspended for the second time. Doesn't seem right does it (especially considering Loveless got the same suspension for striking Bruce and he was just entering his second season of league football)?

Bruce Doull collected a best on ground from Saturday's game against Footscray. He has now joined Rod Ashman as equal leader on the overall tally board. On Saturday Bruce Doull played a typically close-checking game and brought his team-mates into the play with accurate foot and hand passing. - Inside Football Player of the Year.

Critics are frequently claiming that players have forgotten the art of kicking the ball these days and are concentrating too much on handball. Well here's some statistics the critics might be interested in. Champion Carlton defender Bruce Doull had only five kicks in Saturday's match against Footscray, but shot out an incredible 19 handpasses. He was Carlton's best player. - Tony Greenberg Inside Football
