Game Review
A terribly inaccurate Carlton still overcome their kicking woes to post a 55 point victory over Footscray.
An easy win for the Blues who were superior in all aspects of the game. Carlton has a solid backline, a devastating centreline, a potentially good forward line, and they are strong in the rucks. The missing piece is a top line rover, although this week Spencer kicked 6 goals, but he is not as effective when he is on the ball. The Blues put the result out of question in the third term with 6.5 - 2.8 burst. Carlton's team work came to the fore, with handball, short passing, and players backing each other up.

A STOP AHEAD OF TIME
Moorabbin (VFA) players wore rubber stops/studs which were moulded as part of the rubber sole. The players were enthusiastic about the effectiveness of these stops.

Many years later nylon stops replaced the leather, and then screw-in and some moulded soles with stops became popular.
