Game Review

In front of what was decribed as a "sparse crowd" the Blues beat the Fuchsias by 58 points.

"Carlton had a day at home when they met Melbourne on Saturday. The game was far better to watch than the scores read. Melbourne have a good team, at times a brilliant one, but some how or another it never gets going at the right time. The outstanding feature of the game was the six goals kicked without a single behind by Carlton, four of them being snapshots. The veteran Topping re-appeared in Carlton colors and played as well as ever he did. Melbourne put up a game fight, but victory was not to be their's." (Trove: Public Opinion June 04 1914 p21)

At the end of this round Carlton were in 6th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 135.5.
