Game Review

Carlton's season of promising highs and mystifying lows ended in near-humiliation at the hands of Geelong at Princes Park, when a huge crowd turned up to see the Blues get destroyed by 70 points. Although Carlton's rucks broke even, and Wes Lofts kept the Cats' spearhead Doug Wade under wraps all match, Geelong's pace and slick teamwork overwhelmed the home side.

More than 37,000 people watched Geelong thrash Carlton by 70 points. Bill Goggin was in great form for the Cats, kicking four goals, while John Nicholls did well for the Blues. - Football Record.
