Tony Egan was recruited from local VAFA club North Old Boys which was located at Brens Oval opposite the Royal Melbourne Zoo (they now play at the old VFA Club Brunswick's ground). Egan was a quick goalsneak for the Blues Reserves.
He did not manage a Senior game for Carlton.
